international Students Embark on Cultural Tour of Shekou, Exploring Shenzhen’s Rich History

It sounds like the international students’ tour of Shekou, organized by the Nanshan International Cultural Exchange & Service Center (NSIC) and the College of International Exchange of Shenzhen University, was a great way for them to immerse themselves in the local culture and history before starting their academic journey.

Students like Shadi Etbarisani, a freshman from Iran, and Hamza Saeed Khan, a Ph.D. student from Pakistan, were particularly captivated by different aspects of Shekou’s historical landmarks. Shadi was enchanted by the Mazu culture and Tianhou Temple, appreciating the deep cultural connection and expressing her hope to stay in Shenzhen after graduation. Hamza, on the other hand, found the historical significance of the Left Fort fascinating, which helped him connect his academic studies with real-world history.

These kinds of tours can be a meaningful way for international students to deepen their cultural understanding while also enriching their overall experience living and studying abroad. It’s great to see how this program is helping them form a strong connection to the city and its history!
