Chinese Factories in Yiwu See Booming Demand for Trump 2024 Merchandise as US Election Nears

As former US President Donald Trump campaigns for a potential second term, manufacturers in China’s eastern manufacturing hub, Yiwu, are witnessing a surge in demand for Trump-themed merchandise. Despite the trade tensions that marked his previous term, which included tariffs on Chinese goods, Trump’s 2024 bid has sparked a wave of orders from US retailers and online platforms.

Yiwu, known as a global center for small-goods production, now offers over 1,000 Trump-related items for sale on platforms like Amazon. Popular products range from the iconic red “Make America Great Again” hats to figurines, dolls, flags, and clothing. Sales of these items have skyrocketed, with the famous red hat alone selling over 10,000 units on Amazon in just the last month.

Chinese manufacturers have capitalized on this trend. Ricky Luo, a 30-year-old e-commerce merchant, noted that his orders for Trump-related items on Amazon surged to over 3,000 in a single night once US election results were announced. Within two days, Luo and his team recorded revenues of over $20,000 from orders in the United States and Japan alone.

This spike highlights the adaptability of Yiwu’s merchants, who have responded quickly to shifting political and cultural trends, maintaining strong demand for products connected to major events in the US and other international markets. Despite ongoing US-China trade friction, the rise in Trump merchandise sales indicates the resilience and global reach of Chinese manufacturing centers like Yiwu in a complex geopolitical landscape.
